Settlements of Pridnestrovie are celebrating the 80th spring of liberation from the German-Romanian invaders this year. The holiday has come to Tiraspol, Slobodzeya, Grigoriopol and Dubossary today. These cities and nearby villages got rid of the oppression of the occupiers on April 12, 1944. Flower laying ceremonies are held at all memorials and monuments to defenders of the Fatherland. The leadership of the republic is participating in a solemn event organized at the capital's Memorial of Glory. The memory of the victims was honored with a minute of silence.
The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky laid a wreath of flowers at the Eternal Flame, left a scattering of carnations on the slabs with the names of the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of the Pridnestrovian land, and on the pedestals of the monuments of the memorial complex.
The ceremony was preceded by a commemorative march of the participants of the traditional 75th track-and-field relay, and the official part of the program of festive events was closed by the solemn march of the Honor Guard Company, accompanied by the orchestra of the PMR Armed Forces General Staff.
