Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov at the presidential executive office. The interlocutors discussed current issues of the Pridnestrovian-Russian relations, as well as aspects related to the activities of the “Permanent Conference...” format, in which the Russian Federation is an active participant. They talked about slowdown in the negotiation process this year, its causes, possible consequences and options for overcoming the current situation.
The participants of the meeting agree on the significance of the work of the working (expert) groups and political representatives: the lack of a mandate among Moldovan specialists to solve current problems and insufficient activity lead to unpreparedness for further dialogue and, as a result, the lack of practical solutions.
A growing number of problematic aspects, many of which remain relevant over a long period of time, lead to breakdown of trust between the parties, Vadim Krasnoselsky considers. In addition, the PMR President is confident that chaotic political changes in the neighboring state should not adversely affect the course of negotiations, the well-being of citizens depends on the quality and effectiveness of the negotiations. Oleg Vasnetsov supports this position. The diplomat noted that not only Russia, as a guarantor of the negotiation process, but also the OSCE representative was concerned about the pause. The Russian diplomat considers that participants in the 5 + 2 format should be more persistent and active. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that Pridnestrovie in any circumstances is for the dialogue and will take all possible measures for its effective continuation.
