Vadim Krasnoselsky received the Canadian Ambassador

A meeting between the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Republic of Moldova Gavin Buchan took place in the presidential office. The diplomat visited Pridnestrovie for the first time. The PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and a representative of the Canadian Embassy Katelynn Wynen participated in the working discussion.

Welcoming the guests, the PMR President emphasized his appreciation for the attention paid to Pridnestrovie. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke of the Pridnestrovian’s desire to resolve all issues exclusively at the negotiating table. This is a principled position. The President noted that Moldovan-Pridnestrovian negotiations have been frozen since 2019. All attempts by the Pridnestrovian side to resume the "Permanent Conference..." format have been unsuccessful so far: Moldova, having interrupted productive interaction within the "5+2" framework, refuses to engage in dialogue. Gavin Buchan noted in turn that the Canadian side feels that now a window of opportunity has opened, and the moment has arrived that can be truly seized to achieve progress in the negotiations. The diplomat emphasized that Canada has historically never had any interests in this regional space and by and large has no direct interest in any particular outcome of the Moldovan- Pridnestrovian conflict. Nevertheless, Canada is committed to peace, has extensive experience in peace negotiations, and seeks to utilize this experience, including in resolving relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, Gavin Buchan emphasized.

The interlocutors discussed the foundations of world order and exchanged views on specific measures proposed for resuming the "5+2" format, conducting negotiations, and resolving the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict.
