The fifth meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with the head of the Division of the European External Action Service for Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga was held at the presidential executive office. The European diplomat was accompanied by the head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova Janis Mazeiks. The delegation is large in general, its composition changes with each visit, the interlocutors noted. The PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev is participating in the working discussion from the Pridnestrovian side.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that electoral processes took place in the neighboring republic between the previous and current meetings. Their results have changed little, but they are certainly important for the negotiation process, the President of the PMR emphasized, expressing hope for the resumption of a full-fledged dialogue after the elections in Moldova. The PMR President spoke about the importance of contacts at the level of negotiators Ignatiev and Serebrian, but recalled at the same time that this format involves an exchange of opinions without making decisions. Vadim Krasnoselsky said that he still does not exclude meetings at the highest level and is ready for dialogue with the leadership of the Republic of Moldova. The PMR President said that he counts on the resumption of the work of the "5 + 2" format, which was frozen not with the beginning of military actions between Russia and Ukraine, as many claim, but in 2019 when Moldova left the negotiating table, refusing to sign the final document, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky. The PMR President emphasized that any escalation is unacceptable and it will be counterproductive for both Pridnestrovie and Moldova, as well as for all the surrounding states.
Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled the issues that remain relevant: the banking sector, export-import operations, duties introduced by Moldova, violation of agreements within the DCFTA – and noted that he would like to hear the European position on these areas.11
Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga in turn assured that she and her colleagues will always be at the negotiating table, as they consider that all issues should be resolved in this format. She expressed her readiness to discuss the problematic aspects identified by Vadim Krasnoselsky, and drew attention to the positive aspects of recent times, including the resumption of the work of the vehicle registration points and environmental authorization for Moldavian Metallurgical Plant. Speaking about the meeting between Vitaly Ignatiev and Oleg Serebrian held the day before, the European diplomat emphasized that despite the fact that not all the desired results were achieved, this communication is important for both parties.
