Vadim Krasnoselsky took the oath to the people of Pridnestrovie

Vadim Krasnoselsky officially took office as the PMR President. According to the results of the voting of the citizens of the PMR, he was elected the Head of the republic. In fact, this is a re-election: Vadim Krasnoselsky headed the country for the previous 5 years. The legislation requires, upon completion of the electoral processes – within no more than 30 days from the date of publication of the election results – the swearing-in of the elected first person of the state, regardless of whether he has previously pronounced the words of the oath. According to presidential decree, the inauguration was scheduled for December 17, 2021.

The ceremony of taking the oath to the people of Pridnestrovie, the inauguration is traditionally held in the Great Hall of the State Theater named after Natalia Aronetskaya. The place was not chosen by chance. It was here that on September 2, 1990, during the II Extraordinary Congress of People's Deputies of all levels of Pridnestrovie, the sovereign state of the PMSSR was proclaimed. The current name of the country – the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic – was officially adopted in November 1991. A week earlier, the Supreme Council adopted a law on presidential elections on October 22. This was the first mention of this position in the legal environment of the republic. The country's leader was first elected on December 1, 1991. Then the choice of the people fell on one of the founders of the republic, Igor Smirnov. The first President of the PMR was one of the honored guests of today's solemn ceremony.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Pridnestrovie Elena Gorodetskaya announced the official results of the elections, stating that the elections were held in Pridnestrovie in compliance with international electoral standards, in conditions of publicity and political competition, freely and openly. 143054 voters took part in the voting. The turnout was 35.2%. Krasnoselsky Vadim Nikolaevich, who received 113620 votes (79.42%), was recognized as the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. According to Elena Gorodetskaya, the Pridnestrovian elections on December 12 of this year were monitored by 15 international observers from five countries of the world. One hundred and fifty journalists, including foreign ones, were accredited to cover the vote. The requirements of the Pridnestrovian legislation and international electoral standards have been met. “The elections of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on December 12, 2021 are genuine, democratic and legal,” concluded the chairman of the PMR CEC Elena Gorodetskaya.

The Head of state is the guarantor of the Constitution and laws of the PMR, human and civil rights and freedoms, ensures accurate implementation of legislation, takes measures to protect the sovereignty of the republic, its independence and territorial integrity, ensures the coordinated functioning and interaction of all government bodies, determines the main directions of internal and external politics, represents the republic within the country and in international relations. All these provisions are spelled out in the Constitution of the PMR, on which the President swears allegiance to the people of Pridnestrovie. The text of the oath, which Vadim Krasnoselsky voiced today, as well as five years ago, is also recorded in the Basic Law of the country (Article 61).

Vadim Krasnoselsky began to exercise his presidential powers from the moment the text of the oath was announced and the printed version was signed in three official languages – Russian, Moldovan and Ukrainian. Oleg Kabaloev, the chairman of the PMR Constitutional Court, announced his entry into office, having handed over the presidential sling to the President. The certificate of the PMR President was presented to Vadim Krasnoselsky by the chairman of the PMR CEC Elena Gorodetskaya.
