Doctor of Political Sciences Igor Panarin is widely known for his publications. This year, his project “Igor Panarin: World Politics” started on YouTube channel. The author broadcasts to the world in two formats - prepares reviews of the main political events that take place mostly in Russia, the USA and China, and introduces the audience to interesting interlocutors - politicians and political scientists, scientists and representatives of the non-profit sphere. The next, tenth, conversation took place with the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. Introducing to his subscribers - representatives of 55 countries of the world, the interviewer noted that his interlocutor is “one of those who actively participates in the world political process and leads small proud sovereign republic called Pridnestrovie”. The conversation began with the question of what has been done in nearly three years of presidency. “In my opinion, a lot has been done. Most importantly, the large-scale crisis that was in Pridnestrovie in 2014–2016 was stopped, and the economic recession stopped. The most important thing is that we managed to consolidate the society”, Vadim Krasnoselsky answered. Then we talked about the elimination of corruption schemes, the effective functioning of the system of checks and balances in the division of powers between the country's leader, the executive and legislative branches of Government, the qualitative renewal of investment legislation and the growing interest from investors - internal and external. They talked about the various directions of Pridnestrovian exports (products manufactured in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic come to markets in 90 countries of the world).
Igor Panarin was interested in the opinion of the PMR President about whether the Pridnestrovian experience in fighting corruption can be used by the new political forces of Moldova (answer: “Why not?), and whether the neighboring state will intensify interaction, both political and economic. “It is necessary to go through a stage of economic interaction, cultural, humanitarian to talk about political interaction. Foundation should be created. Politics is a question that is dangerous to touch. To date, none of the parties is ready for a political dialogue. We need to deal with those issues that affect people's lives. This is the economy, the issues of free movement, logistics, tourism - those areas, aspects that people face that are of interest to them”, answered Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The recent meetings of the PMR President with the American ambassador and the Russian vice-premier were mentioned. They discussed the negotiation theme, reminding those who were knowledgeable and clarifying for those who do not know what the “5 + 2” format is, what its functions, tasks and prospects for future work are. They focused on Pridnestrovian-Russian cooperation and at the fact that the Russians are little aware of Pridnestrovie. “47% of our subscribers are citizens of Russia. In second place is Ukraine, in third place is Germany. Therefore, one of the goals of this interview is for Russian citizens to learn more about wonderful Pridnestrovie, which has emerged from a difficult economic situation, is moving towards much more stable standard of living and needs any support”, the political scientist noted.
The aspect of the multinationality of the Pridnestrovian people is of particular interest for the author of the program. He asked whether “Pridnestrovie can become a kind of positive model for the post-Soviet space, for Europe, an example of how different ethnic groups get along and develop the economy”. Vadim Krasnoselsky considers this possible. “Representatives of 72 nationalities live on the territory of Pridnestrovie. The fundamental ones are Russians, Moldovans and Ukrainians. Approximately 30%. There are three official languages. Moldavian, by the way is based on Cyrillic graphics. Russian, Moldavian, Ukrainian schools. We teach in the three official languages in specialized secondary and higher educational institutions. When ten people gather at the table, there can be ten representatives of different nationalities out of these ten people. But we are not divided. We are all Pridnestrovian people who have already been created. There are no conflicts within this nation. We are united by a common idea, we are Pridnestrovians. We do not have mononationality, no nationality weighs upon another. We have never had a national conflict”, the President emphasized. Continuing the thought, the interlocutors agreed that Pridnestrovie could also act as a kind of “center of stable security in the Northern Black Sea region”. They talked about the peace that has been saved for almost three decades in the land of Pridnestrovie and about the role of peacemaking. “We have peacekeepers not only of Russia, but joint ones. Peacekeepers from Russia, Pridnestrovie, Moldova, plus the Ukrainian - as observers are involved in the peacekeeping mission. The system is working. Not a single peacemaker perished for 27 years of existence of this format of the peacekeeping operation. This is an achievement. This is an example for others. We cannot talk about changing the format of the peacekeeping mission, about replacing peacekeepers with policemen. It is untenable. The current system is working. Why change something that works effectively? The main thing is the peace. We are an unrecognized state. But we have the world 27 years. This is the main value. What is the value of a recognized state with war? Ask any person where he wants to live - in a recognized state in a war or unrecognized state, but in peace. The answer is obvious. We, of course, strive for recognition, but only through the peace, through positive impulses, without evil and aggression. We will preserve peace and achieve recognition through the peace”, the PMR President is sure.
“It seems to me that Pridnestrovie, having an enormous experience of positive peacemaking, consolidation, movement, not only positively within itself, but also gives these positive impulses around itself. When you talk about the Black Sea area in a broad sense, it is also positive. Pridnestrovie creates an aura of good and peace”, said its initiator Igor Panarin, closer to the final of the conversation.
