The working conversation between the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the European delegation led by the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting held in Bendery lasted about three hours.
“This meeting was necessary. We voiced our position, arguments, and heard the opinion of the OSCE representatives on the negotiation agenda. Many of them do not lose relevance over a sufficiently long period of time. In addition, there are new problematic aspects that should be addressed. The most acute ones were highlighted: the problem of Moldova’s closing bank accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises, the lack of progress on the part of the Moldovan side in ending politically motivated criminal cases against Pridnestrovian officials, and telecommunications issues. Everyone has heard about the current situation in connection with the introduction by the Republic of Moldova of a ban on crossing the Moldovan-Ukrainian border by motor vehicles with Pridnestrovian license plates or neutral license plates, as well as if a driver has a license issued in Pridnestrovie. I indicated that we will immediately respond in case of violation of the rights of Pridnestrovians. At the moment, Moldova has announced the suspension of the ban, and therefore implementation of the decision of Pridnestrovie on the adoption of mirror responses has been frozen. In case of new encroachments on the rights and interests of citizens of the PMR, we will act in a similar way. In general, the conversation with Mr. Mayr-Harting and his colleagues turned out to be really working. The Special Representative showed an awareness of the situation and at the same time showed an interest in hearing our point of view. We hope that the meeting will be productive - it will contribute to the intensification of the negotiation process and the solution of problems urgent for Pridnestrovians”, the PMR President noted, summing up the discussion. In addition, Vadim Krasnoselsky said that during the meeting he appealed to the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting and the Head of the Mission Claus Neukirch with a request to assist in the speedy release of the citizen of Pridnestrovie, held by the security forces of the Republic of Moldova.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that at the end of the meeting the interlocutors agreed on further cooperation, maintaining working contacts and intensifying efforts aimed at maintaining the functionality of the negotiation mechanisms.
