Vadim Krasnoselsky visited Rowing Center in Grigoriopol

Continuing his working visit to Grigoriopol District, the President Vadim Krasnoselsky visited the rowing center of the local children’s and youth sports school. The primary focus was on training conditions and the modernization of sports infrastructure. The PMR President inspected the pier and assessed changes to the Dniester River shoreline, which have been affected by the river’s receding water levels.

It was reported to Vadim Krasnoselsky that the facility currently employs four coaches and serves over 30 children, including three girls. These young rowers regularly participate in national and international competitions; a recent achievement includes a silver medal at the "Olympic Hopes" regatta in Bratislava.

The history of rowing in Grigoriopol dates back to the early 1960s, though the program was short-lived due to a shortage of coaching staff. It was revived in 1985, at which point local athletes began achieving their first significant results in national and all-Union competitions. Although the sport faced financial hardships in the early 1990s, its development was successfully resumed in 1997. A strong coaching tradition has taken root over time, with athletes from the program now competing in World and European championships.

Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that proper training conditions are essential for developing rowers in addition to professional coaching and athletic performance. A large-scale reconstruction project began at the center in 2023 for this reason, aimed at upgrading infrastructure and ensuring the necessary environment for training. With support from the Capital Investment Fund, a sports hall, a connecting gallery, and a boathouse capable of storing 50 boats were constructed, and the main building underwent renovation. A total of 4.7 million rubles was allocated for these projects. The administrative and utility complex was renovated in 2024: the roof, windows, and doors were replaced, interior and exterior finishes were completed, and utility systems were upgraded. The grounds were landscaped, and a pier and pedestrian walkways were constructed. These improvements cost nearly 5.2 million rubles.

The sports equipment has also been updated over the years. The rowing division received a motorboat, a single-person kayak, and a single-person canoe through the presidential executive office. A trailer for transporting the motorboat was acquired with the support of the state administration, and the local budget provided the athletes with matching uniforms for competitions.

Vadim Krasnoselsky inspected the boathouse, noting that it is in excellent condition and meets all necessary requirements. The President emphasized that the fleet of boats must continue to be expanded to support the ongoing training of the athletes. The President visited the gym and the changing rooms.

Coaches and the management of the sports school expressed their gratitude to Vadim Krasnoselsky and the local administration for the work completed and for creating a proper environment for training. They noted that athletes had to train in the past at an old facility where it was not even possible to change clothes comfortably, even in winter. According to the staff, the infrastructure upgrades represent a significant step forward, making the training process much more comfortable.

Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked in turn the coaches for their work with children, their contribution to the upbringing of the younger generation, and their efforts in developing the sport of rowing in Grigoriopol. He highlighted the importance of their work in training young athletes and preserving the region’s sporting traditions.
