Vadim Krasnoselsky and Oleg Vasnetsov exchanged congratulations on the Day of National Unity

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov at the presidential executive office. The working discussion was preceded by exchange of congratulations on the Day of National Unity. It was noted by the interlocutors that the holiday has deep historical roots despite the fact that it appeared in the calendar of official holidays in Russia relatively recently in 2005. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized the unifying essence of this holiday, saying that the date did not go unnoticed in Pridnestrovie. Various events are timed to the National Unity Day, including the opening of a bust of the outstanding Russian military and political figure Count Mikhail Vorontsov in the Citadel of the Bendery Fortress (the opening ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow) and the installation of commemorative signs of the regiments that were quartered in Tiraspol in the XVIII-XIX centuries (a celebration on this occasion will take place on Saturday at the model of the Tiraspol Fortress in the Catherine Park). The PMR President invited the Russian Ambassador to take part in these events.

The Head of the Russian embassy in turn mentioned the Union of Russian Communities of Pridnestrovie, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The main part of the conversation was devoted to the discussion of topical issues of the Pridnestrovian-Russian interaction. They also spoke about the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, in particular about the prospects for the "5 + 2" format meeting.
