The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic celebrated the 31st anniversary of the start of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester. The country's leadership, representatives of state authorities and administration, military personnel, Suvoroviets, members of Yunarmiya, the public of Pridnestrovie, representatives of other states gathered in the early morning at the Arch of Peace "Blessed are the peacemakers." The rally and the flower-laying ceremony were opened by a series of events dedicated to the peacekeepers and their contribution to the preservation of peace in the Pridnestrovian land.
The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky laid flowers at the base of the arch on behalf of the Pridnestrovian people.
“Those who live in Pridnestrovie do not need to prove the significance and necessity of a peacekeeping operation. Life has proven. The peacekeeping mission has become an integral part of the life of the Pridnestrovian people. Why? Because the peacekeepers of the Russian Federation, the united peacekeeping forces, which include the peacekeepers of Russia, Pridnestrovie, Moldova, returned peace to this land, did not allow war. It is most important. Now there is a lot of talk about changing the format, about introducing some kind of civilian mission… We have our history. It is relevant even today. The history of 1992, when there was a civilian mission here. At the very first shots fired in Bendery, this mission did not fulfill its function, outrun, and then, without fulfilling its mandate, did not write any conclusions, did not prepare a report – nothing. This is the essence of the civic mission. Peacekeepers are completely different. These are armed people who are guarding, guarding the peace. It is most important. The format cannot be changed in my opinion until relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova are fully settled in the political sphere. This is the position of all participants in the 5+2 format, including Pridnestrovie.
We, Pridnestrovians, are sincerely grateful to the peacekeepers of the Russian Federation for stopping the war, preventing further loss of life, maintaining peace on Pridnestrovian land and not only.
Peacekeepers should stay on Pridnestrovian land until a full settlement, until the time when the legal consequences of this war will be clear, when those persons who unleashed it will be named, brought to justice, when there will be an awareness of what happened. These were war crimes. The armed forces of the state were directed against peaceful people. This is wrong. We need to get away from all these double standards. In general, I consider that the use of force is an act of hopelessness. Everything must be decided by the negotiation process, by peace. When tanks drive on civilians, planes fly, destroying all life, this is wrong from the point of view of a person. Importance, significance – these are all, of course, high words. A person is interested in his life, the life of loved ones and peace in the state. That is what peacekeepers provide. I don’t see any other mechanisms today,” the PMR President noted at the end of the solemn ceremony.
