Pridnestrovie is preparing for Defender of the Homeland Day. Numerous thematic events are held in the republic. It is a tradition to hold a solemn meeting and a festive concert on the eve of the 23rd of February. The place is traditional – the large hall of the Palace of the Republic. A festive atmosphere was created by the organizers right from the entrance. The participants and guests of the event were met in the foyer by musicians of the orchestra of the General Headquarters of the PMR Armed Forces. Representatives of the Heirs of Victories patriotic movement organized an exhibition of samples of military clothing there. Military personnel, heads of government and administrative bodies, clergy, and representatives of public organizations are in the hall. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky was among the guests.
The PMR Minister of Defense Oleg Obruchkov addressed the audience, and in their person, all defenders of the Homeland. He recalled the events of the past, demonstrating the unparalleled heroism of the ancestors of today's Pridnestrovian soldier and officer. He talked about the Civil War, the Great Patriotic War, the Pridnestrovian War. The memory of the victims was honored with a minute of silence.
The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the inviolability of the connection between generations of defenders of the Fatherland in his congratulatory speech. He recalled that the name of the holiday has changed, but its essence – honoring defenders – remains unchanged. The President emphasized that there remains a need to protect the country and its people at all times. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that not only those who defended it, but also soldiers of many European states that encroached on this territory are buried in the Pridnestrovian land. The President spoke about the bright mark left in Pridnestrovian history by the generalissimos, field marshals, generals, officers and privates of the Russian Imperial Army. He focused on the feat of the Soviet soldier and the Soviet people during the Second World War in general, recalling that this year Pridnestrovie will celebrate an important date – the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the region from the German-Romanian fascist invaders. Speaking about the Great Victory Day – May 9, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized, “We are all witnesses to the fact that this holiday is not artificial, not far-fetched. This holiday is a national holiday. The war affected every family”. The President spoke about the role of the Soviet Union as a guarantor of peace, expressing gratitude to those who fulfilled their international duty in Afghanistan and other countries with honor and intelligence. He focused on artificially generating a negative attitude towards the Soviet Union. He addressed special words of gratitude to the defenders of Pridnestrovie. The President did not ignore the contribution of peacekeeping forces to maintaining peace on Pridnestrovian soil.
The PMR President outlined the positive changes in recent years taking place in the Pridnestrovian army. He emphasized that the PMR Armed Forces keep pace with the times in their development. Concluding his speech, the President congratulated military personnel, veterans and all Pridnestrovians on the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day.
The most distinguished military personnel were awarded state awards, which were personally presented by the Commander-in-Chief of the PMR Armed Forces Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The festive event continued with a festive concert.
