The flags of the cities and districts of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic are fluttering above the capital's square named after Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov: Tiraspol, Dnestrovsk, Bendery, Slobodzeya, Grigoriopol, Dubossary, Rybnitsa and Kamenka. Seven canvases. Each has its own deep symbolism, its own history. What unites them is common statehood. They are gathered under the Flag of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. This official symbol of Pridnestrovie was approved in 1991 by the delegates of the IV Congress of Deputies of all levels. It was solemnly raised for the first time on the first anniversary of Pridnestrovian independence – the 2nd of September, 1991. It has been an obligatory component of the celebration of the Republic Day since then. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic participates in the ceremony.
