The Victory Banner fluttered in the sky over peaceful Tiraspol

An obligatory element of the celebrations taking place on May 9 in Tiraspol is the raising of the Victory Banner. The scarlet canvas fluttered in the sky above the main square of the Pridnestrovian capital to the sounds of the anthem of the Soviet Union, the country that won the Great Patriotic War. This is a copy of the assault flag of the 150th Idritsa Rifle Division, which was hoisted on the Reichstag building in Berlin, symbolizing the Victory of the Soviet people over Germany and its allies. The original is kept in Moscow and is recognized as a state relic. A copy was delivered to Tiraspol in May 2014. An important historical fact for Pridnestrovians: a resident of Slobodzeya, Private Ivan Palchikov, was part of the assault reconnaissance group that broke through to the roof of the Reichstag.

The raising of the Victory Banner was observed by the President PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky.
