The cinema is one of the most important elements of the cultural life of a modern city. It functioned in Grigoriopol since 1965. Designed for 400 seats, the Vostok for many years was the main leisure center not only in the town, but also in the district. Time took its toll: in the early 2000s, the facility that did not know the repair, began to fall into infrastructural badness and even an emergency condition. Until 2014, it was still possible to attract at least the youngest viewers - cartoons were shown here, but then the screen blinked off.
In May 2018, the locked doors of the cinema were opened by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky. While on a working visit to the Grigoriopol district, he drew attention to the dead building in the center of the city, ordered to study its condition and, based on the conclusions of experts, insisted on including the cinema in the program of the Capital Investment Fund. As a result, a colossal amount of work was carried out for such an object: in addition to general construction - roof overhaul, strengthening of the foundation, replacement of heating, electrical, water supply, sewerage and ventilation networks. The territory adjacent to the cinema has been brought into proper form. The equipment of the hall deserves special attention. It was provided with unique soundproof panels. There were not so many spectator places in the Vostok before as now - 97. It has turned into a universal cultural and leisure center from an ordinary cinema, which will also perform an information and educational function. The reconstruction is called the second birth of the object with 55 years of history. Its official opening took place today. The PMR President took part in the ceremony.
Congratulating the residents of Grigoriopol, Vadim Krasnoselsky called today's event a long-awaited event, noting that few believed in the success of this project. The President expressed gratitude to everyone who took part in bringing this bold idea to life, especially highlighting the Head of the Grigoriopol administration, Oleg Gabuja, calling him the main hero of today's celebration.
Vadim Krasnoselsky said that through joint efforts the infrastructure of settlements is being transformed, increased attention is paid not only to healthcare and education institutions (although they are a priority), but also to cultural and sports facilities.
The first movie show took place today in the revived Vostok cinema. Cutting the symbolic red ribbon and going on a tour of the renovated premises of the leisure center, the President, the Head of the regional administration, the guests of the holiday, including young residents Grigoriopol, watched a film about the history of the city founded by Catherine the Great and modern Grigoriopol, as well as trailers of animated and feature films in the new for Pridnestrovians in the Dolby Digital multichannel sound format, which residents and guests of the Grigoriopol region will be able to watch on a modern screen as soon as they manage to cope with the spread of COVID-19.
