Memorable regimental signs were installed in the Catherine Park

Opened in September 2020 the Catherine Park continues to transform. Infrastructure is developing. The educational component is strengthening. For example, each visitor will be able to learn about which regiments of the Russian army were stationed at different times in Tiraspol, participated in the construction of the city and made a significant contribution to the military history of the Pridnestrovian region. The model of the Tiraspol fortress was replenished with new elements – the regimental signs of the 55th infantry Podolsk, 56th infantry Zhitomir, Polotsk and Aleksopol musketeer regiments. Its opening was timed to the Day of National Unity. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky took part in the festive event. The President was accompanied by his spouse. Heads of state authorities, city administrations and local councils, clergy, and the public have been invited.

The events were watched by cadets of the Tiraspol Law Institute and of the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense. The ceremony involved young descendants of Russian soldiers – Pridnestrovian Suvorovites and cadets, as well as servicemen of the Guard of Honor Company. The Guard of Honor Company has a double holiday today. The division was established on November 6, 1997. More than two thousand conscripts have served in it during 24 years. Not a single state event is now complete without the participation of Guard of Honor Company military personnel. The visiting card of the unit is the parade ground. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke in his speech about the connection between generations of defenders of the Fatherland, preservation and continuation of the best traditions of the Russian army, as well as respect with which Pridnestrovians treat the past of their country. He recalled the names of the founders of Tiraspol and the great commanders who played an important role in the history of the city. He focused on the contribution of each of the regiments, the memory of which is embodied in the regimental insignia discovered today. The President said that the popularization of history, simplification of access to it, the use of modern tools and methods, the complex of which unobtrusively enthralls citizens by studying the history of their native land, helps to preserve the memory of the events of the past. The educational function of park infrastructure is an example of this approach.

The official ceremony was completed by the passage of the event participants with a solemn march. Then, the guests examined the exhibition of equipment deployed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Catherine Park. The concert of the vocal instrumental ensemble "Dniester" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will continue the Saturday program.
