The Krasnoselsky couple honored the memory of the fallen defenders of Pridnestrovie

The 1st of August, 1992 was inscribed in Pridnestrovian history as the day of the end of Moldova's armed aggression against Pridnestrovie. The leadership of the young Pridnestrovian republic decided two years later to declare this date the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow for the fallen and deceased defenders of the PMR. Memorial events were held throughout the republic today. Pridnestrovians remember the names of those who, at the cost of their lives, defended the freedom and independence of Pridnestrovie.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with his wife in the course of the visit to Slobodzeya district laid flowers at the monument to the fallen defenders of Pridnestrovie. More than 30 residents of Slobodzeya district laid down their lives in 1992.

The Krasnoselsky couple honored the memory of the head of the district headquarters of the people's militia Alexander Gusar and the chairman of the Slobodzeya district executive committee and district Council of People's Deputies Nikolai Ostapenko, who were brutally murdered by members of the Moldovan nationalist group "Buzhor". Live carnations were laid on the slabs of the Glory Memorial with the names of the fallen heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The ceremony was attended by the head of the Government Alexander Rosenberg, the First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov and the head of Slobodzeya district Vasily Tishchenko.
