The President visited the place where the church was constructed in the name of the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church

The building of the cellar of the bastion of St. Vladimir of the Tiraspol (Middle) fortress was founded in the summer 1793 by order of Empress Catherine II and was built with the personal participation of Alexander Suvorov according to the project of Franz de Volan, is included in the register of historical monuments. One of the branches of the Tiraspol joint museum is located here, as well as a Church in the name of the new martyrs and confessors. The construction of the temple of the same name is underway at the territory adjacent to the gunpowder cellar. A while back, Archbishop Sawa performed the order of laying a new church, placing a capsule with a diploma in its foundation. The walls of the temple building is already constructed. Carpathian timber is selected as a building material. The works are carried out at the expense of citizens and patrons of art, the President who visited the object, stated today. He called this significant from the point of view of preserving history and Orthodox traditions.

Vadim Krasnoselsky during a recent meeting ordered to organize a museum of victims of political repression in the cellar building. The choice of location is justified historically. The remains of hundreds of citizens who were shot in the 30s of the last century are buried here: laying the foundation of the memorial complex, they were exhumed and reburied last year. The future temple and museum will be included in its structure.

In the course of today's visiting meeting to gunpowder magazine that was attended by the head of the city administration and the pastor of the parish currently, another task was set by the President: on his initiative, the exposition dedicated to the Cossacks would be placed in the cellar. Vadim Krasnoselsky drew attention to the need to bring the territory around the memorial and historical complex into a proper view and to create the corresponding infrastructure. “This place keeps the memory of the history of Tiraspol, of the Suvorov times, of the Russian-Turkish confrontation. The spirit of the Russian army is preserved here. This land is saturated with the blood of victims of political repression. The future complex is important for the preservation of history, it will become an Orthodox center, it will be interesting from a tourist point,” Vadim Krasnoselsky is sure.

The opening of the temple and museum is scheduled for October 30, 2019.
