The conversation of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova Claus Neukirch was held in video mode. The PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev joined the conversation. They talked about the situation in and around Pridnestrovie, international relations and the course of the negotiation process in the pandemic. The European diplomat asked about the situation in the republic, coronavirus statistics, and the atmosphere in Pridnestrovian society. Vadim Krasnoselsky informed the interlocutor of current information on the number of Pridnestrovians infected with COVID-19, told about measures taken to prevent the mass spread of coronavirus, emphasizing that Pridnestrovie acted ahead of schedule. In an effort to minimize the number of potential sources of infection, the country's leadership at the end of January imposed a ban on entry into the republic of foreign citizens arriving from countries where focal point of infection was recorded, Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled. He spoke about the coronavirus hospitals deployed in Pridnestrovian settlements, isolation of suspected of infection of citizens, including doctors working in the risk zone. It was also about the purchase of necessary medicines and equipment. In this regard, Vadim Krasnoselsky drew attention of the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova to the position of the neighboring state, which creates additional difficulties for Pridnestrovie that must be overcome in order to provide residents with everything necessary under conditions of global quarantine. Among the identified problematic aspects are difficulties with the delivery of medicines, equipment and other categories of goods necessary for the full life support of Pridnestrovians. Vadim Krasnoselsky called on his European colleagues and in their person the entire international community not to ignore such facts.
They spoke in the course of the video communication about the advisability of continuing the negotiation process in terms of holding meetings of expert (working) groups. In conditions of universal isolation, the videoconferencing format remains an accessible working tool.
Having discussed a wide range of issues, the interlocutors agreed to continue working contacts. At the end of the discussion, Vadim Krasnoselsky and Claus Neukirch exchanged mutual wishes for health, noting that under the existing conditions, these standard etiquette phrases are filled with special meaning.
