Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov. The discussion took place at the presidential executive office. The PMR Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev took part in the conversation.
Welcoming the Russian diplomat, the PMR President emphasized the importance of such meetings and noted that the agenda was filled with topical issues of both bilateral Pridnestrovian-Russian relations and negotiation topics within the framework of the “Permanent Conference…” format. The fundamental goal of the negotiations, Vadim Krasnoselsky called the preservation of peace and security in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the region as a whole. He described the Pridnestrovian position as peaceful.
The President said that the possibility of holding an informal meeting of participants in the “5 + 2” format is being discussed. I was interested in the opinion of the Russian ambassador on this matter. Oleg Vasnetsov noted that he welcomes the use of any platforms to bring the negotiation process out of the current state of suspended animation. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that he supports the use of diplomatic tools in all its diversity, but he focused on the fact that alternative dialogue forms and platforms can serve as exclusively accompanying ones while maintaining the dominant role of the 5 + 2 format at the same time.
The meeting participants mentioned the possibility of holding the next round of negotiations in the "1 + 1" format (political representatives from Pridnestrovie and Moldova) before the end of this year.
They talked in the course of the meeting about overcoming the energy crisis. Vadim Krasnoselsky called the events of the past week an important step along this path, expressing gratitude to everyone who participated in reaching an agreement. Oleg Vasnetsov noted that the current situation is in the focus of attention of the top political leadership of the Russian Federation, which is confirmed by the discussion of issues related to the state of affairs in Pridnestrovie during the meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights held by the President of the Russian Federation the day before.
Discussing the situation of Russian citizens permanently residing in Pridnestrovie, the interlocutors noted positive developments in the work of the consular post in Tiraspol. The meeting participants discussed social, humanitarian and economic issues, outlining plans for further cooperation in the current complex geopolitical situation that dictates its own terms.
