Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa

The conversation between the PMR President and Vladyka Sawa took place at the presidential executive office. The interlocutors discussed organizational issues related to the upcoming meeting of Vadim Krasnoselsky with representatives of various religious faiths. The event was initiated by the President. “90% of Pridnestrovians are Orthodox. We respect representatives of all faiths and confessions. It’s important for me to know how believers live, what worries them, what problems clergymen have, how the church’s relations with state bodies are developing. There have never been ethnic and religious conflicts in Pridnestrovie. Our common task is to follow this principle of peaceful coexistence on one land of representatives of different faiths,” said Vadim Krasnoselsky in an interview with the Archbishop. An extended meeting is scheduled for the end of this month.

The joint participation of clergymen representing various religious movements in the event scheduled for October 30 is supposed. We are talking about the opening of a new Tiraspol church in the name of the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church, as well as a museum of victims of political repression. The objects will be part of the memorial complex on the territory of the Tiraspol fortress. The memorial day will be the reburial of the remains of citizens shot in the 30s of the last century. It is assumed that the service will be common and will allow uniting representatives of different faiths in requiem prayer. According to the Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa, the clergy have vividly responded to this initiative and are ready to take part in the upcoming mourning event.

They discussed issues of interaction between the church and the state during the meeting. Vladyka noted that it is at a high level, constantly evolving, acquiring ever new forms. They spoke during the working discussion on introducing citizens to the Orthodox culture. It was, for example, a printed publication of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese. The Archbishop, noting the public interest in the newspaper Orthodox Pridnestrovie, thanked Vadim Krasnoselsky for his assistance in reviving the publication.
