The Borisovskoye cemetery in Bendery is crowded today. For nearly three decades on June 19 those who are not indifferent to the past and the future of Pridnestrovie come here. They remember the heroes who laid to rest under the stone slabs. During the traditional meeting they told about scary for residents of Bendery 40 days of defense against the aggressors, 489 dead, 1242 wounded and dozens missing. The Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa held a litium. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, speaking of the tragic events of 27 years ago, noted that the Bendery tragedy was the culmination of an attempt to forcely enslave Pridnestrovian people. He recalled that Pridnestrovians over the years have not heard the names of those who gave the order to invade, who carried out punitive actions. There was also no retribution, which, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, was deserved by the leaders of the neighboring state who unleashed the war. The PMR President said that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is in favor of peace. “Pridnestrovians are real peacekeepers. The core of peacekeeping is in the Pridnestrovian people,” Vadim Krasnoselsky is sure. He addressed with words of support to the family and friends of the defenders and called on all Pridnestrovians to take care of the history of their own country.
At the foot of the monument to the defenders and to each memorial plate of the Alley of Heroes, updated on the instructions of the President to today's date, they lay down fresh flowers. The PMR President spoke with the widows and relatives of the victims, who noted with gratitude the transformations that had taken place in this memorable and important place for every residents of Bendery and the whole Pridnestrovian people.
