Tiraspol celebrated its birthday today. The city is 232 years old. The date of October 14 is conditional – it is not directly related to the foundation or first mention of the city. It was officially enshrined in the holiday calendar in 1998. Although Tiraspol residents had previously preferred this day – the Protection of the Mother of God in Orthodoxy.
The festive events started the day before – on Sunday. Official celebrations are took place today. The top officials of the state, the city leadership, military personnel and clergy, representatives of departments, enterprises, public organizations, cadets, Suvorov pupils, cadets, young army members, residents and guests of Tiraspol gathered at the Glory Memorial to honor the memory of the heroes who defended the city in different historical periods.
