Meeting on the flood situation on the Dniester was held in the office of the President. Vadim Krasnoselsky invited the leadership of the PMR Government, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, as well as the State Unitary Enterprise "Dubossarskaya HPP" to discuss the significant topic.
The President stated that the flood continues, so the relevant ministries and services should be ready to take appropriate measures. According to Boris German, the head of the Dubossary hydropower station, today the station discharges water in the volume of 1160 cubic meters per second. This allowed stabilizing its level in the reservoir. Vadim Shmalenko, head of the Emergency Management Department of the PMR Ministry of the Interior, noted that with the preservation of the Dubossary hydropower plant parameters of water discharge in a few days we can expect a decrease in its level in the river. The Head of Department of Emergency Services emphasized that flooding of the republic is not threatened. At the same time, Interior Minister Ruslan Mova assured the President of his readiness to eliminate the consequences of flooding in the event of a negative scenario.
Summing up the meeting, Vadim Krasnoselsky focused its participants on the requirements, fulfillment of which is necessary to prevent flooding or to eliminate its consequences. According to the President, it is important to carry out continuous monitoring of the development of the flood situation, as well as to provide logistical and human reserves. Vadim Krasnoselsky recommended Department of Emergency Services conduct exercises of personnel. “As the experience of the floods in 2008 and 2010 shows, flooding can be prevented if efforts of state authorities and administration are consolidated”, concluded the President.
