An extended council of atamans of the Black Sea Cossack army of Pridnestrovie gathered today. The event is planned, the format is discussion. The meeting was held in Grigoriopol. The goal is to sum up the results of current activities and discuss the situation in the country and abroad. The President was invited to the conversation. The Chairman of the Government of the PMR, the Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary, the Minister of State Security, the Head of Grigoriopol region were present.
It was recalled in the course of the event that the Black Sea Cossacks as such were formed in 1787-1788. It was transformed in 1860 into Kuban. The Black Sea Cossack army was revived only with the creation of the Pridnestrovian state – in late 1991-early 1992. Its units have become part of the structure of the Armed Forces of the PMR, the Black Sea Cossack army have been an important component of the state security bodies of the republic since 2018. Seven Cossack districts with a total number of 3429 people have been registered to date.
The President spoke about the importance of the Cossacks as a military unit, about the role of the Black Sea Cossack army in the preservation of history, traditions, spiritual heritage, about the work of the Cossacks in educational orientation.
The military ataman of the Black Sea Cossack army Igor Nebeygolova spoke about the activities in which the Cossacks are actively involved, voiced general information about the current activities of the Black Sea Cossacks.
The Cossacks in the dialogue part of the meeting addressed their concerns to the President. Answering them, the President outlined the picture of today. He spoke about the impact on Pridnestrovie of the events taking place in neighboring states and in the world as a whole. The republic fulfills all social obligations despite the difficulties, takes measures to develop the economy, upgrade infrastructure, and does not abandon plans to further increase salaries for state employees, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized. Speaking about new challenges, the President spoke about the prerequisites for the current situation in the gas sector, the current state of affairs, the measures taken for prompt response, and prospects. They discussed the topic of upcoming optimization in the medicine. They talked about the Armed Forces of the PMR, positive changes in the Pridnestrovian army, improving the conditions of service and the quality of military training of conscript soldiers. Among the topics raised at the meeting are the Cossack squads and the improvement of the regulatory framework governing the functioning of the Cossack patrols that assist law enforcement agencies. Questions related to the mechanism of payment for housing and communal services by Cossack villages, their material and technical equipment and staffing were raised. They discussed the prospects for creating a center of Cossack culture in Pridnestrovie. Several accommodation options are offered. The President noted that he would study the initiatives and, having the necessary amount of information, would make a decision. The Cossacks also proposed to perpetuate the memory of Vladimir Ryabinsky, who passed away in September of this year, the military ataman of the Black Sea Cossack army in the period from 1994 to 2012. The President supported the initiators: a commemorative plate will be installed on the house where the Cossack general lived.
The President set a number of tasks for the Cossacks during the meeting, the main of which remains unchanged – the protection of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The PMR President expressed gratitude to the Cossacks for their faithful service, stressing that he never doubted their loyalty to the Fatherland.
Vadim Krasnoselsky was awarded the Order of Cossack Glory. The President was awarded the award back in 2021, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Black Sea Cossack army. Objective circumstances did not allow the award ceremony to be held earlier. Today's meeting provided such an opportunity.
