The Pridnestrovian region was liberated from the German-Romanian invaders by the forces of the Red Army 77 years ago. Residents of Tiraspol, Dubossary and Grigoriopol districts celebrate the Victory Day Today. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky on behalf of all Pridnestrovians honored the memory of the fallen soldiers-liberators. He laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame of the Capital Memorial of Glory, flowers - at the monuments and graves of heroes who did not return from the war. The ceremony was attended by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of the leadership of the presidential executive office, the PMR Government, the Supreme Council, power departments, OGRV in Pridnestrovie, state administration and the city council of Tiraspol, clergy. Commemorative events are also organized in other settlements celebrating the Day of Liberation.
The PMR President, communicating with the press, congratulated the veterans and residents of settlements liberated from Nazi oppression in April 1944. He noted that every point on the map of the former Soviet Union has a double history: every city and village has a day of foundation and a day of liberation from the Nazi invaders. According to Vadim Krasnoselsky, we are indebted to everyone who lies in the land that he defended until his last breath – to preserve history in its original, true form, to convey to descendants the truth about the past.
Answering the question from journalists about the prospects for holding military parade on May 9 of this year, which is still difficult from epidemiological point of view, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that preparations for this significant event are underway, but whether a large-scale parade will take place or will have to be limited to less massive events depends on the situation with the spread of coronavirus.
