The President participated in the ceremony of raising an Orthodox cross on the dome of the Church of the Archangel Michael and All Angels

The Archangel Michael and All Angels Church has been erected on the grounds of the Alexander Lebed Military Institute of the PMR Ministry of Defense. The cross was placed on its dome today, on the feast day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. Cadets, and officers of the university, invited Suvorov cadets, clergy, military personnel, and officials participated in the ceremony. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky was among those invited.

Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa led the prayer service and consecration of the cross. Archbishop thanked everyone involved in the construction, calling the raising of the cross the crowning achievement of a God-pleasing deed, and presented the Feodorovskaya Icon of the Mother of God. Speaking about the construction of the military church, the President emphasized that this is a long-standing tradition. “Each regiment of the Russian Empire previously had its own regimental church. The 56th Zhitomir Regiment, stationed in Tiraspol, had its own church. The 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment also had its own church in Bendery (today, the Church of the Savior Not Made by Hands). Faith shapes ideology, faith shapes spirit. A soldier on the battlefield will be strong if he believes. Therefore, of course, this church is both a continuation of glorious traditions and a reinforcement of today's ideology, today's faith of the defender of the Fatherland," Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.

The Orthodox cross will be installed not only on the main dome of the military institute church but also on its bell tower. Work on the site is ongoing. Painting will begin no sooner than a year from now, as required by technology. However, the first service, with the blessing of His Eminence, will be held in November, on the feast day of Archangel Michael, after whom the church is named.
