The PMR Deputy Chairman of the Government Vitaly Neagu updated the state of affairs regarding adverse weather conditions during video conference between the President and senior government officials. Meteorologists reported the impending severe weather at midday on the 2nd of February. Responsible agencies and the public were promptly informed. The Main Directorate for Emergency Situations has been placed on high alert. 42 vehicles and 94 personnel have been deployed for road maintenance across the republic over the past week. 381 tons of sand have been used. No accidents have been reported. There have been 117 road injuries. Four citizens have sought assistance at warming and temporary shelter centers. Vitaly Neagu reported that 27 people have suffered from hypothermia, five of whom have died since the beginning of the year. The speaker reported that a power outage occurred in the village of Kolosovo in the Grigoriopol district at 5:30 a.m. today. 138 customers were left without power. The problem was resolved within two hours, and power was restored.

Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized the need to ensure safe movement not only on roads but also on sidewalks. Regarding courtyards and approaches to multi-story buildings, the President noted that housing and utilities staff are unable to sprinkle anti-slip compound on all paths, but they can provide residents with sand so that they can sprinkle the necessary areas themselves. The President recommended that the deputies take responsibility for organizing this interaction.

Vitaly Neagu reported on the results of the commission's inspection of the state of solid waste landfills. This is an instruction from the President. The Deputy Chairman of the Government recalled that Pridnestrovie has seven large permanent landfills and 60 temporary solid waste storage sites in rural areas. Inspection visits were made to facilities in Tiraspol, Bendery, and Slobodzeya district last week. A tour of the northern sections was postponed due to weather conditions. The following issues were identified: poor access roads, waste on the roadsides, contamination of the sanitary protection zone around the facility with light waste fractions, failure to regularly compact and refill the compacted solid waste layer with an inert soil layer, and waste disposal outside the facility's designated work map. Materials on the observations and conclusions have been sent to the responsible authorities. Action plans to address the deficiencies must be submitted to the government by February 16. It was noted that there are regulatory and legal gaps in addition to practical shortcomings. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that a systematic approach is needed to address the problem. He instructed that the necessary legislative initiatives be developed. The PMR President emphasized that dumping waste in the wrong place is a deliberate offense, and the response to it must be appropriate.
