The President held meeting on upcoming May holidays

The pandemic has made serious adjustments to all spheres of society. So far, plans related to the large-scale celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory turned out to be unrealizable. The President raised the issue of planning the safe for the population celebration in the course of yesterday’s meeting of the Operational Headquarters. A detailed discussion took place today.

May 9, the day will begin with the laying of flowers at the monuments and graves of fallen veterans of World War II. A traditional ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at the Glory Memorial in the capital. The PMR President, heads of the branches of authorities and ministries of the power block, the Head of the OGRV in Pridnestrovie and the Head of the capital’s administration will lower the wreath at the Eternal Flame and flowers on stone slabs with the names of heroes. They will carry out an honorable mission on behalf of the entire Pridnestrovian people, which on this day, due to objective reasons, will not be able to gather at the memorial. This does not mean that the population will remain indifferent. Each Pridnestrovian will be able to take part in the “Immortal Regiment” without leaving his home. A metronome will sound throughout the republic, which will count out a minute of silence at seven o'clock in the evening. This time, residents of Pridnestrovie are invited to look out from the windows of apartments, go out onto balconies or to the entrances to private households with portraits of veterans in their hands. At that moment, those who defended the country from fascism 75 years ago will be at home with their descendants.

The festive atmosphere should reign in the settlements all day, the President set the task. At noon, bells will ring in all the churches of the country. During the day, military vehicles, decorated and equipped with sound-amplifying equipment, will ply the streets. The mood will create recordings of songs of the war years. Moreover, a mobile car scene will arrive at the home of every WWII veteran. A live concert will be organized at it, which will be preceded by a story about the combat path of a hero living in the neighborhood. The President emphasized that a very limited number of people will be able to personally visit a participant in the Great Patriotic War this day. This is a representative of the state administration and a military man who, in compliance with all security measures, will present the veteran with flowers, a welcome address, gifts, including an envelope with financial assistance in the amount of 5000 rubles, and the anniversary medal “75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945".

During the working discussion, which was attended by representatives of the authorities, ministries, state administrations and services responsible for the sphere of culture, the media and communications, they discussed all aspects related to the implementation of the new plan for celebrating Victory Day. The active participation in the preparation and organization of events is taken by servicemen of the Task Force of the Russian troops in Pridnestrovie. Responsibility for the implementation of the plan rests with the heads of city and district administrations on the ground. General management is for the PMR Minister of Defense. The issue of preparation for a significant event is under the personal control of the President.
