Vadim Krasnoselsky held a working meeting on secondary vocational education. The PMR President invited the Head of the PMR Presidential Administration Sergey Belous, the PMR Government Chairman Alexander Rosenberg and the representative of the apparatus of the executive body Alexei Tsurkan, the Minister of Education Svetlana Ivanishina and the head of the profile department Lyudmila Tanurkova, as well as the rector of PSU Vladislav Sokolov to the discussion.
It was noted in the introductory part of the meeting that the system of secondary vocational education of Pridnestrovie is represented by 14 organizations, in which 6138 people are currently studying, 68% on a budgetary basis. The educational process is provided by 1381 employees, 569 of which are teachers. The number of students has decreased by 1238 over the past five years. The target enrollment figures have been met by 75% and 63% of the design capacity of the infrastructure of educational institutions is used. Many facilities are in need of repair and additional equipment. Practice-oriented programs – 60-70%. Experts consider that the learning process is different from reality. The problem is the outdated material and technical base. Employers are not always satisfied with the level of training of graduates. Working professions are not yet very popular among young people, the participants of the meeting stated. They discussed how to change the situation. They talked about the fact that educational institutions train workers for public catering and trade enterprises, engineering and construction, light and food industries, the agricultural sector, IT-direction, as well as pedagogical specialists. Duplication of professions in different technical schools and colleges was noted. There are ideas and developments related to the optimization of the vocational education system. The meeting participants exchanged views on the proposed reorganization measures, voiced the expected pluses and possible minuses of systemic changes.
