The President held a meeting on the situation in the energy sector

Meeting, the main topic of which was the situation in the energy sector, was held at the presidential executive office. Vadim Krasnoselsky called today's power outage throughout the country abnormal.

Deputy Chairman of the Government – Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Sergey Obolonik reported that the high-voltage line to Vulcaneshty stopped working in the afternoon. A similar situation was on the 15th of November. “There were very strong fluctuations in the Ukrainian energy system now. A frequency drop has occurred without recovery. The fall was restored last week. Unfortunately this has not happened Now” said Sergey Obolonik. As a result, automation was turned off at all consuming and generating stations. Thus the HPP of Dubossary and Moldavian GRES were switched off. Pridnestrovie, Moldova and Ukraine were completely de-energized.

The power supply was restored at the time of the meeting. It is from Romania. The 10th power unit of the Moldavian GRES will be launched in the near future. The HPP of Dubossary is being switched on in parallel. Electricity is supplied to Tiraspol. There is no electricity in Grigoriopol, Dubossary, Rybnitsa and Kamenka at the moment.

The energy system is now unstable according to Sergey Obolonik. The quality will be restored only after the start of operation of the Moldavian GRES. The volume of electricity will be sufficient for household consumers and social institutions to provide the north of Pridnestrovie with water and heating.

The situation will stabilize by eight o'clock in the evening according to forecasts of experts. Pridnestrovie will start generating its own electricity again.

The President in turn asked how the situation would develop if Moldova did not illegally seize gas from Pridnestrovie and the Moldavian GRES continued to supply electricity to the neighboring country. “The stability of the energy system would be significantly higher in this case. Such consequences could have been avoided,” said Sergey Obolonik.

Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that he urged the Moldovan side to think pragmatically and recommended taking into account the situation that is developing outside of both Pridnestrovie and Moldova at all negotiation platforms.

“Moldovan politicians did not take into consideration a number of factors. Gas was illegally seized from Pridnestrovie – 1.6 million cubic meters per day, which led to the shutdown of industrial enterprises and a decrease in production volumes of the Moldavian GRES. Moreover, Moldova recognized the fact that this gas was sent to Ukrainian gas storages,” said Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The President called the actions of the representatives of Chisinau ill-considered. They led to the fact that Moldova was left without a stable supply of electricity. Our state suffers from this,” said Vadim Krasnoselsky.

The PMR President recalled that disturbing events are taking place around the republic. They will be projected on Pridnestrovie as well. Vadim Krasnoselsky assured that the state leadership would do everything possible to stabilize the situation.
