Meeting of the PMR President and the rector of state university took place at the presidential executive office. Vadim Krasnoselsky and Vladislav Sokolov discussed the current activities of the university and plans for the future. The educational process is without interruption. The schedule for carrying out repair and construction work is maintained. The university infrastructure in building “B” is being updated at the moment. Construction workers are working on the third and fourth floors. Complete dismantling was carried out. The floors are being poured. They hope to have this building ready to meet students by the beginning of the next academic year. Only the basements will remain unrepaired by September 1. Work will go in parallel with the educational process, without interfering with it, said Vladislav Sokolov. Among the priority tasks that must be completed by the end of this summer are the premises preparation for the museum of archeology, putting the campus in order and carrying out external work (replacing the roof, window blocks and repairing the facade) of the building in which the Faculty of Economics of PSU is located. The plans for subsequent years include renovating the lecture halls of the Faculty of Economics, paying attention to building “G” and the infrastructure of the Physico-Technical Institute.
Vadim Krasnoselsky asked whether the new Center for Digital Education, created at the state university, is in demand. It is located in one of PSU buildings and occupies four classrooms. Students and schoolchildren from the age of 7 are engaged in programming, robotics, computer graphics, 3D modeling, computer science, mathematics and physics. Lectures on astronomy and excursions to the university planetarium are held there. The center's work began with the Republican IT Olympiad in programming held in December last year.
The rector said that a working trip to Moscow is planned for the near future. It is necessary to resolve the issue of Russian accreditation of educational activities of PSU named after Shevchenko for the remaining seven enlarged groups of specialties. There will be a series of meetings in addition, the purpose of which is the participation of Pridnestrovian civil servants and university teachers in professional development events held at Russian educational sites. According to Vladislav Sokolov, the university management expects to send two groups of 20 PSU employees for training in the spring of this year. There will be working contacts in Moscow and through Rossotrudnichestvo. One of the issues is the provision of quotas for Pridnestrovian graduates to enter Russian universities. The PMR President said that today a campaign to accept applications for participation in the Unified State Exam of the Russian Federation has started. Work is underway to attract future PSU applicants. The winners of the career guidance Olympiad for schoolchildren will receive preferences for admission to the country's main university. Its second stage is taking place at the university.
Another important area that was discussed with the President today is the organization of the educational process for young people whose health condition requires special conditions creation. Vladislav Sokolov said that today graduates of the boarding school of Glinoye are studying in Bendery. The students live in the capital until the local student’s hostel is renovated. Their studies are supervised by a teacher, and a psychologist helps them adapt and socialize. Work is underway to increase the involvement of young people with special needs in the vocational education system. The experience of other countries is being studied. It is for this purpose that four PSU employees are currently on a work trip to the USA. Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed to intensify interaction with the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor and directly with specialized educational institutions of the republic. It is necessary to communicate directly with potential applicants, the President noted, emphasizing that often the obstacle to obtaining vocational education is not the physical characteristics of a young person, but psychological barriers. The task of the state is to help overcome them and promote maximum socialization of people with disabilities. Education is communication, development and the possibility of further employment, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized.
