Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa at the presidential executive office. The main issue is the construction of Orthodox churches. Dmitry Dobrov, the Head of the construction organization, which is to implement the existing plans, was also invited to the discussion. It was about two projects: the Church of the Great Martyr Tatiana on the territory of the student campus of the Pridnestrovian State University named after Taras Shevchenko and the Church of the Archangel Michael in the urban-type settlement of Pervomaisk. Both objects are the request of future parishioners. The idea of their implementation is supported by both the state and the diocese. It was noted in the course of the meeting that only four churches remained on the territory of modern Pridnestrovie after many years of oppression of Orthodoxy and persecution of the church, today its number is approaching one and a half hundred.
The interlocutors discussed projects, details. The construction of the student temple will be strengthened. They will think over a special room for household needs. The grand opening is scheduled for the 1st of September this year. They expect to build the frame of the future church in Pervomaisk this year. The current bishop said that a consolidated decision had been made to move away from the idea of building a temple of grandiose scale (such a project was developed more than a decade ago). Preference was given to the option of a compact light temple, which will harmoniously fit into the park infrastructure.
Another issue that was discussed by the President and the Governor of the Tiraspol diocese was the upcoming events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of St. Paisiy Velichkovsky. The Orthodox Church of Moldova declared 2022 the year of the memory of this saint, revered by the Russian, Ukrainian, Moldovan and Romanian churches. Vladyka Sawa spoke about his participation in the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova on the 10th of February and the decisions taken there, focused on plans for holding events in Pridnestrovie dedicated to the anniversary of the saint. Vadim Krasnoselsky assured that he would support the initiatives of the Tiraspol and Dubossary diocese, emphasizing that the implementation of plans depends primarily on how the situation develops at that time. The issue of a commemorative coin for the 300th anniversary of Paisiy Velichkovsky was among the voiced today proposals. It is supposed to be silver. The denomination and circulation are to be discussed. The Pridnestrovian Republican Bank was instructed to work out this issue.
They spoke in the course of the meeting about other issues related to the strengthening and development of Orthodox traditions, the interaction between the state and the church. The topic of support for foreign citizens temporarily staying in Pridnestrovie due to the difficult situation in Ukraine was not left without attention.
