The Ceremonial Assembly is a traditional event on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day. It is held in the Grand Hall of the Palace of the Republic. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky is among the guests of honor.
A film about the current Pridnestrovian army was shown to the guests. The PMR Defense Minister Oleg Obruchkov addressed the servicemen with a congratulatory speech. The head of the defense ministry observed a moment of silence in memory of those who died defending Pridnestrovie. "The current defenders – the soldiers of the Armed and Peacekeeping Forces – are worthy heirs and continuers of the best traditions of the Soviet Army", Obruchkov emphasized. He wished the personnel fortitude and success in improving their military skills and military service, and thanked the families of the servicemen for their support. Commander-in-Chief of the PMR Armed Forces and President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky congratulated the participants of the ceremonial meeting, including every service member and the entire Pridnestrovian people. He emphasized that the country's history is inextricably linked with the history of the defense of the region and the people living on this land. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the date of February 23, 1918, is arbitrary, and the ancestors of today's defenders came here in the ranks of the Russian Imperial Army, which, by the decision of Catherine the Great and the efforts of her champions, became an outpost of the Russian Empire here, a support and protector of its southern borders. "It is difficult to imagine the history of Pridnestrovie without military history, without the heroic deeds of the defenders of the Fatherland. This has happened in different eras. Heroism has always existed. For the good of the state. For the good of the people. Even the movement we created is called not “Heirs of Victory”, but “Heirs of Victories” – of all the victories won by the Russian army in all wars", the President recalled. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke of the heroism of the Soviet soldier during the Great Patriotic War, his victory over fascism and Nazism, and the heroism of those who stood up to defend the Pridnestrovian people, their democratic values, and freedoms.
Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke proudly of the modern Pridnestrovian army, noting significant positive changes in the internal organization of the PMR Armed Forces, technical equipment, and personnel training. The army has ceased to be a place of military service; it has become a true school of life for young people, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized. This is a shared achievement, a shared victory, the Commander-in-Chief noted. The President expressed special gratitude to veterans and those serving in combat. He also addressed words of appreciation to the peacekeepers maintaining peace on the banks of the Dniester.
The most distinguished military personnel were awarded state and departmental awards on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day.
At the conclusion of the ceremonial meeting, the orchestra of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic performed a festive concert under the direction of People's Artist of the PMR, Colonel Vitaly Voynov.
