An extended meeting of the Military Collegium was held at the PMR Ministry of Defense. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky took part in the work. The results of the service activities of the Armed Forces in 2023 and plans for the future were discussed. The Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Oleg Obruchkov made a report. He informed about the daily work of the detachments of the Ministry of Defense, current tasks implementation and achieved results. They talked about combat and physical training, the status of weapons and equipment, logistics and food supplies. The speaker focused on improving the army infrastructure, telling which objects were given attention during the reporting period. He spoke about the measures taken to strengthen army discipline, emphasizing that the number of violations among military personnel has noticeably decreased. He reported on the activities of educational institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Defense – the Tiraspol Suvorov Military College and the Military Institute, noting that a gym at the Suvorov School was renovated last year, and a new building is being built for the university and the cadet campus is being improved. Organizational and educational innovations are important: the institute has new specialties and correspondence courses. The minister spoke about Army Sports Club and the sporting achievements of military personnel. He said that military units were staffed by military priests. The minister called productive the interaction with the public. Talking about measures of social support for military personnel, Oleg Obruchkov recalled that not only officers, but also other categories of contract military personnel now have the opportunity to participate in the state program of subsidies for the purchase of housing on the initiative of the President. Another socially significant area of activity of the Ministry of Defense is the organization and maintenance of the Dniester Dawns healthcare complex. The complex was visited by 919 adults and 1839 children.
Commander-in-Chief of the PMR Armed Forces Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed a number of questions to the speaker and gave some instructions. The President focused on such an aspect as medical training of military personnel and youth. The President considers that knowledge, skills and abilities in this area must be instilled starting from school years: first aid should be a mandatory training course at the Suvorov School and the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense, as well as at the Republican Cadet Corp and the Tiraspol Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The approach should be similar when training from an early age specialists of a new formation who are capable of managing modern technology and equipment, the President noted. Vadim Krasnoselsky sees it advisable to more often resort to competitive practice, recommending holding various kinds of interstructural and interdepartmental competitions to hone skills and make personnel more focused on high results. The PMR President gave instructions to hold a historical and patriotic quiz with maximum coverage of participants this year.
The Commander-in-Chief highly appreciated the educational work carried out with the personnel. He noted the significant in recent years in terms of providing military personnel with uniforms and their quality food. He thanked for the revival of the Dniester Dawns complex, noting that it would contribute to the further development of the institution. According to the PMR President, the healthcare and leisure complex needs a modern, well-equipped sports town. Another task for the current year is to complete the construction of the educational infrastructure of the Military Institute. The President is confident that interest in the educational institution will increase noticeably with the commissioning of the new building of the university.
The activities of the PMR Ministry of Defense were recognized by the President as satisfactory in general.
