The President took part in a rally on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Tiraspol

The Spring of Liberation continues its victorious march across Pridnestrovie. Residents of numerous villages in the Dubossary, Grigoriopol and Slobodzeya districts celebrated the event on the eve of the 81st anniversary of liberation from Nazi oppression. The wave of liberation had reached the villages of Rogi, Kocieri, Molovata, Bychok, Krasnaya Gorka, Parkany, Kopanka, Kitskany by April 12, and washed away the Nazi occupation evil spirits from the territory of the cities of Tiraspol, Slobodzeya, Dubossary and Grigoriopol. Festive events are taking place everywhere today. The country's top officials are participating in the celebrations taking place in the capital. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame, monuments and graves of the defenders on behalf of the entire Pridnestrovian people and everyone who honors the memory of the heroic ancestors-liberators.

A memorial rally was held at the renovated Memorial of Glory. It was preceded by traditional procession of a column of participants in the track and field relay race, which is held every year on this day in Tiraspol. The youth arrived at the memorial complex accompanied by the orchestra of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the PMR. They talked during the rally about the 974 tragic days of occupation, during which more than four thousand residents of the city were killed. They remembered with gratitude the soldiers of the 37th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, who brought freedom to the people of Tiraspol. The history of the creation of the memorial itself, in the construction of which the city residents themselves actively participated in the early 70s of the last century, was not left without attention. It is noted that participants of the Civil, Great Patriotic and Pridnestrovian wars are buried here. 1252 names were initially carved on the marble slabs. A monument to the Afghan Warrior was erected in 1995. And 804 names of fallen defenders of Pridnestrovie appeared on the reconstructed Wall of Memory in 2010. The Grieving Mother is frozen movement forever nearby. The memorial complex celebrates today's date with a new transformation. On behalf of the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky, slabs with the names of Tiraspol residents who died on various fronts of the Great Patriotic War were installed. There are thematic murals illustrating the events that took place on the territory of Tiraspol in 1941-1944. Flowers were laid at these slabs for the first time on the day of the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the city.

"The war for the city of Tiraspol, for the people of Tiraspol, as for all Soviet citizens, began on June 22, 1941. Volunteer fighter battalions were formed in Tiraspol from the first days, which had a great influence on the events of July-August 1941 in terms of counteracting the German-Romanian invaders. It was the people of Tiraspol who held back 10 divisions of the advancing enemy and gave the defenders of Odessa time to prepare for its defense. Many of those who defended the city of Tiraspol in June, July, and August 1941, and then went on to defend their homeland together with our advancing troops. About 1400 of them died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. They are buried somewhere on the territory of the former Soviet Union and on the territory of Europe. Many of them are buried in unknown graves – there is no exact burial place of the remains. A new page opens in the history of the city of Tiraspol today. The defenders of our Motherland, our fellow countrymen are not forgotten. The name of everyone who did not return to their hometown, defending our Soviet Motherland, is carved in granite. This is important. This is memory. This is our duty.

Terror, mass murder, torture, violence were committed in Tiraspol during the occupation, from August 8, 1941 till the spring of 1944. Dark, black days came. The question is: who did it? Of course, there were henchmen, traitors, but they played secondary roles. This is understandable. The bulk of the terror was led by Romanian officials who were sent here in the amount of eight thousand people to the so-called transnistria, the Governorate of transnistria with its capital in Odessa. It was they, led by their "great marshal" Antonescu, but in fact, a murderer and rapist, who formed firing squads, carried out mass terror and prepared Tiraspol for destruction by and large. Of course, we see terrible times today when the liberators, the Soviet army in Moldova are called occupiers, and those who committed terror and personally participated in mass murder and torture are called liberators. They not only call them, but they manage to capture this in history books. It is difficult and scary for me to imagine this in our native Pridnestrovie. It is our independence – the independence of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic – that is an obstacle to the rehabilitation of Nazism and fascism here, on our territory. This is blasphemy in essence. Historical blasphemy. Dear Pridnestrovians, dear friends, we must not think that someone should do something for us. Each of us must resist Nazism and fascism – in possible circumstances, as best we can, with our memory. Come, bow, bring flowers, congratulate veterans, sing "Katyusha". Let your parents talk about their fathers, their grandfathers, how they defended. Write down, document, pass on to your children, your grandchildren. This is the memory that connects generations. This is our fight against both Nazism and fascism.

I want to thank everyone who participated in the reconstruction of the memorial complex. These plates are very informative. Here you can learn about the Odessa offensive operation, about the people who led this offensive operation, about the actions of the Red Army, about the actions of the liberators of the city of Tiraspol.

The 12th of April can be considered in fact the second birthday of the city of Tiraspol. Tiraspol threw off the shackles of fascism, Nazism, the black plague and gave a future to the next generations.

I want to address the veterans, of whom there are few, but they exist, and they carry the memory, they were participants and liberators in that terrible war. Take care of yourself. I wish you good health. Stay with us as long as possible. And Eternal memory to the fallen,” said the MR President Vadim Krasnoselsky at the opening ceremony of the reconstructed Glory Memorial, timed to coincide with the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Tiraspol from the German-Romanian invaders.
