Vadim Krasnoselsky held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Ozerov. The meeting took place in the presidential executive office. The Russian diplomat was accompanied by the Co-Chairman of the Joint Control Commission from the Russian Federation Alexander Andreev and an employee of the Russian embassy Daniil Zakharov. The host party was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev.
The main issue was overcoming the energy crisis and the subsequent economic and humanitarian crisis. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that Moldova, in particular the President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu publicly made statements about their readiness to help solve the problems and let gas into Pridnestrovie. The Russian Federation provides real assistance in practice, and Moldovan officials resist the implementation of the humanitarian project.
"I have repeatedly heard statements from Moldovan politicians that the Kremlin allegedly provoked this crisis, that the Kremlin is escalating the situation. They even agreed, it turns out that the supply of gas is an escalation of the situation. I don’t know who else to turn to so that they can be explained that all these statements contradict each other. This is wrong even from the point of view of the linguistic component, from the point of view of providing information to people. This is wrong. We see direct discrimination against the interests of citizens living in Pridnestrovie in fact, people of different nationalities, different ethnicities and different citizenships. This is dangerous. It is precisely the actions of the Moldovan authorities to prevent gas from entering Pridnestrovie that entail a possible escalation. This is what I have directly stated, and I declare the inadmissibility of developments in this direction. I hope that the Moldovan authorities will come to their senses, stop discriminating against the population of Pridnestrovie and let in the gas that will be supplied on a completely legal basis, in accordance with the legislation of both Pridnestrovie and Moldova, to the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted.
The President expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation and hope that Moldova will fulfill the promise of its leader and allow gas to flow to Pridnestrovie.
The Russian ambassador noted in turn that he arrived in Pridnestrovie to see the real state of affairs on the ground. He said that he visited the Moldavian hydroelectric power station.. Oleg Ozerov emphasized that his task is to confirm the position of the Russian Federation in favor of a speedy resolution of the grave humanitarian crisis. "Russia's most important concern is solving people's problems. First and foremost. Of course, we are not talking about any destabilization, on the contrary, we are talking about the efforts of the Russian Federation to stabilize the situation, resolve this grave humanitarian crisis in the interests of the population of Pridnestrovie. The fact that the Moldovan side constantly states that its population is here and must be protected, we can only welcome this. We would like to see concrete steps towards resolving the problems of Pridnestrovie as soon as possible. Moreover, the Russian Federation for its part has taken all necessary measures to rectify the situation and will adhere to this position in the future. You know better than me that there have been a lot of contacts on this topic. The Russian leadership supported the position on the need for a speedy resolution of this humanitarian crisis, which we do not consider political, do not associate with any political problems. We consider that this is a humanitarian problem. We hear the same from the OSCE representatives. We hear this from other Western representatives. We proceed from the fact that this problem should be depoliticized and resolved in the interests first of all of the population of this region in the current situation” Oleg Ozerov emphasized.
