Search operations have been carried out on the territory of the St. Vladimir Bastion of the Tiraspol Fortress since 2017. It is known that mass executions were carried out here, near the walls of the surviving gunpowder magazine in the late 1930s. The remains of victims of political repressions are constantly found, only this year the bodies of more than 1.5 thousand people were exhumed.
The main work on the exhumation as well as the reburial of victims of political repression is carried out by representatives of the Heirs of Victories movement. Vadim Krasnoselsky met today with them.
The President noted that each state has both heroic and tragic pages of history. We can't talk about victories only. “On the contrary, we must honestly say and repent, pay tribute to those who suffered in these events of the twentieth century. Everything is in order with memory in Pridnestrovie. We honor the victims of the Holocaust and are not ashamed of it. We honor the victims of Stalin's repressions. We honor the victims of the war against the Pridnestrovian people. We honor the feat of the Soviet people and the Russian Empire,” said the President.
Vadim Krasnoselsky presented state awards and thanked everyone who participated in the exhumation and reburial of victims of political repression.
