The meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of His Majesty the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova Steven Fisher took place at the presidential executive office.
The President outlined for the British diplomats the position of Pridnestrovie on the situation around the state. “We are traditionally neutral to outside factors. And in the end, of course, our ultimate goal is peace that can be both preserved and achieved only as a result of negotiations. This is our general concept that we follow all the time. Although I consider that there were attempts to escalade the situation here through terrorist attacks,” said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
Ambassador Steven Fisher noted in turn that the protracted conflict between Pridnestrovie and Moldova can only be resolved through negotiations and dialogue. The diplomat was also interested in PMR President’s perspective of the dialogue between Tiraspol and Chisinau.
“Moldova is trying to create economic and energy problems for Pridnestrovie. In my opinion, this is also thoughtless and will never end well. I would very much like to see reasonable and pragmatic negotiators who do not engage in political demagogy, but are able to take decisions that are beneficial to both sides,” the PMR President noted.
The interlocutors exchanged views on a number of topical issues in the course of the meeting. They paid special attention to the issues of energy stability. In addition, they touched upon the topics of the current regional and international situation.
