Tiraspol is a four-time Order-bearing city. It has been awarded state awards "For Contribution to Victory", "For Post-War Restoration and Development of Economy and Culture", "For Contribution to the Successful Development of the Republic". The Pridnestrovian capital was awarded the Order of Catherine the Great exactly one year ago. Flowers were laid today at the monument to the empress, by whose decision the Tiraspol fortress was founded.
The monument to Catherine II appeared in Tiraspol in 2020 on the initiative of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. The location of the monument was not chosen by chance. The bronze sculpture is located in a park named after Franz de Volan, the architect who designed the fortress. His portrait sculpture has a scattering of carnations on the city day.
As is known, the great commander Suvorov, who is deservedly considered one of the founders of Tiraspol, inspected the construction of the Tiraspol fortress. The name of the generalissimo is inextricably linked with Tiraspol. The monument to the commander on horse’s back has been standing in the city center since 1979. The main square of the Pridnestrovian capital is also named after Suvorov.
