2022 is the year of the 30th anniversary of the tragic events that the Pridnestrovians had to go through in connection with the military aggression initiated by the nationalists of Moldova against the peaceful people. They remember in Dubossary today the defenders and residents of the region who died in May 1992. Special police unit shelling cut 39 lives short during five days of that month. They told in the course of the mourning rally that took place at the city's Memorial Complex of Military Glory about Irreplaceable losses. They remembered by name those who died directly on May 20 – military personnel, Cossacks, militias, whose names are carved on the obelisk, installed on the site of the former post "Fortified Hydroelectric Power Station" and will forever remain in the memory of contemporaries and descendants.
The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the Dubossary residents and guests of the city who gathered at the memorial:
“Nationalists of Moldova made an attempt to capture the city of Dubossary 30 years ago. The goal was clear – to divide the republic into two parts and continue its occupation. May 1992 turned out to be hot in the literal and figurative sense of the word. The defenders of Pridnestrovie managed to hold back the onslaught of the enemy and defend their native city. Both the defenders of Pridnestrovie and civilians were killed. All types of weapons were used against the Dubossary people, including artillery and various kinds of heavy small arms.
30 years have passed since the end of hostilities in the territory of Pridnestrovie. It would seem that there is enough time to understand that Pridnestrovie cannot be crushed either by war, or by blockades, or by any kind of aggression. We see a picture today when nationalist war criminals are awarded orders, they are honored as heroes-liberators. Just wondering who the liberators are?
Pridnestrovie is a peaceful state. Our desire for peace is exemplary. Pridnestrovie is an island of stability, guarantees of freedom and human right to life. However, I am absolutely convinced of this, all the people will stand up for defense, for the defense of their home, their family, their loved ones, their state in the event of aggression against Pridnestrovie. No need to experiment! Even making plans to invade Pridnestrovie is dangerous. Now there is a lot of talk about the political settlement of the Pridnestrovian issue of Pridnestrovie – about some kind of autonomy, a special status ... I am convinced that a settlement is possible only in one case – in the case of unconditional recognition of the will of the Pridnestrovian people on the independence of our republic. It will be so. I don't doubt it. This is the only way to preserve peace in our land.
Our defenders were killed. This is a tragedy. But it would be even more tragic if their deaths were in vain. Their feat is not in vain. They died for their homeland, for their people and for the future recognition of Pridnestrovie. Their names will forever remain in the memory of the multinational people of Pridnestrovie, blessed memory of the dead. God bless the defenders of Pridnestrovie. I wish everyone health and peace, peace for Pridnestrovie”.
The memory of the dead was honored with a minute of silence. The rector of the Dubossary Cathedral of All Saints, Archpriest Georgy Lisovsky served a lithium for the murdered. Flowers are lowered to the graves of the fallen defenders. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky laid the flowers on behalf of the entire Pridnestrovian people. The ceremony was attended by heads of state authorities and local self-government, deputies, representatives of ministries, departments, institutions, public organizations, military personnel, delegates who arrived from cities and regions of the republic, residents of Dubossary.
