The tranche of Russian humanitarian aid in the form of 62000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine was delivered to its destination. The cargo was met personally by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the leadership of the PMR Supreme Council and the Chief sanitary doctor of the republic in Tiraspol, on the territory of the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology. The car with five pallets of vaccine was accompanied by the Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Artem Turov, the Minister of Health of the PMR Christina Albul and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Alexander Stetsyuk.
The Head of the Pridnestrovian Ministry of Health informed the President that the cargo was delivered from the Chisinau airport without incident.
Russian Parliamentarian Artem Turov after exchanging greetings noted that the vaccine had been transferred to the citizens of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with the assistance of many officials who empathize with Pridnestrovians. Artem Turov called the delivery of the Russian vaccine to the republic a significant event, noting that Sputnik V was recognized as one of the most effective means of preventing coronavirus in the world, and expressing the hope that the implementation of the vaccination campaign would help to cope with this international ailment.
Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Russian Federation and all officials – both Russian and Pridnestrovian – who took an active part in the negotiations and delivery of the vaccine. The President expressed confidence that Sputnik V would be in demand among Pridnestrovians. The PMR President emphasized that the arrived batch of the Russian vaccine is the first. There are preliminary agreements on subsequent ones. Vadim Krasnoselsky expects that by the fall, most residents of the republic who want to be vaccinated against COVID-19 will have such an opportunity.
The Sanitary and Epidemiological Service has been instructed to organize the proper storage of the vaccine and its prompt distribution to medical institutions so that the vaccination with Sputnik V begins on Monday.
