Meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Paun Rohovei took place on February 19, 2024.
The PMR foreign affairs chief Vitaly Ignatiev took part in the discussion.
Exchanging greetings, the interlocutors mentioned that the current communication forms a good basis for systemic interaction along with the previous meeting held in December last year.
The position of both Pridnestrovie and Ukraine remains unchanged in terms of the desire to maintain peace and continue the civilized negotiation process. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that there remains a need for dialogue in conditions of forced stagnation of the “5+2” format, noting the constant openness to interaction with the Moldovan side at the highest level in the “1+1” format. Paun Rohovei noted that Ukraine supports the settlement of the Pridnestrovian conflict through peaceful diplomatic means and has been and will remain an active participant in the settlement process.
The interlocutors agreed that numerous problematic issues of a humanitarian nature arising within the framework of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement should be resolved as a matter of priority for the benefit of people on both banks of the Dniester without politicization. People's interests are the cornerstone of diplomatic efforts.
The meeting participants discussed support measures provided to Ukrainian refugees in Pridnestrovie. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled at the same time that regular consular support is important for this category as well as for almost one hundred thousand Ukrainian citizens permanently residing in the republic.
The interlocutors discussed in the course of the meeting a wide range of topical issues of mutual interest.
