The PMR President held a meeting with the Head of the EU delegation to the RM

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the Head of the European Union delegation to the Republic of Moldova Peter Michalko. The Ambassador was accompanied by the Head of the political relations department, as well as advisers on political and economic issues. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR took part in the working discussion from the Pridnestrovian side.

The interlocutors, welcoming each other, noted that the previous meeting was dated 2019 - before the onset of the pandemic. Many questions and problems have accumulated that require urgent solutions over the past time. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that he does not accept writing off the stagnation of the negotiation process on COVID circumstances. According to him, the pandemic aggravated the situation, but was not the root cause of the freezing of the dialogue. The active and effective phase of the negotiations (2017-2018) ended in the summer of 2019. The "Permanent Conference ..." format has ceased to correspond to the name: expert groups hardly work, political representatives do not interact, and summit meetings are taking place less and less frequently. At the same time, there are more and more threats, restrictions on the part of Moldova, crisis manifestations, and issues of economic orientation, social sense, humanitarian profile are politicized more often, Vadim Krasnoselsky stated, citing specific examples. The PMR President emphasized that unilateral actions by the Republic of Moldova entail an escalation of the conflict. Vadim Krasnoselsky considers this state of affairs unacceptable.

Peter Michalko in turn noted that the dialogue should continue in any circumstances. According to him, it is extremely important by joint efforts to build up the post-pandemic life of society.

The meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues. Special attention was paid to banking and politically motivated criminal cases.
