The PMR President received Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Moldova

Meeting with Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy Office of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Moldova Floris van Eijk was held in the office of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky. The European diplomat was accompanied by embassy staff responsible for economic and political issues. The PMR Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev took part in the working discussion from the Pridnestrovian side.

The interlocutors discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation. They focused on issues related to the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The meeting participants noted the prolonged pause in the work of the “Permanent Conference…”, noting the necessity of urgent resuscitation of the negotiation process. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that Pridnestrovie stands exclusively for a peaceful dialogue at the negotiating table and makes every effort to intensify it. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic highlighted the adoption by Moldova of the so-called law on separatism among the many problems faced by Pridnestrovians. He emphasized that the new norms of the criminal legislation of the neighboring state is a serious step towards the escalation of the conflict, against which the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic has been opposing for more than three decades.

Mr. Floris van Eijk noted in turn that he was aware of the difficulties faced by the citizens of Pridnestrovie in the existing realities. He highlighted the complexity of the geopolitical situation and the economic problems that arose in connection with the closure of the Ukrainian borders and the restrictive measures that followed from Moldova. The diplomat emphasized that he arrived in the republic to hear the opinion of Pridnestrovie, discuss options for overcoming the current situation and ways to overcome the crisis in the work of the “5+2” format.
