Meeting of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and the Ukrainian delegation, headed by the Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Paun Rohovei was held on the 18th of December. The foreign affairs chief of Pridnestrovie Vitaly Ignatiev took part in the discussion.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that Pridnestrovie and Ukraine are connected by historical ties and that about 150 thousand ethnic Ukrainians live in the republic, many Pridnestrovians have Ukrainian citizenship, Ukrainian traditions are preserved and developed. The fact that Pridnestrovie provided and continues to provide support to citizens who left Ukraine during the period of hostilities did not go unnoticed. Refugees are given the opportunity to stay in a specially created temporary stay centers and employment centers on the territory of the PMR. Children who come from Ukraine attend kindergartens, schools, additional education institutions, and receive medical care free of charge. Paun Rohovei expressed gratitude for such support of his compatriots.
The PMR President focused on the fact that Ukraine is a participant in the “Permanent Conference...” format – the guarantor of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The guest assured that the country he represents remains faithful to the principle of an exclusively peaceful settlement of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict, but at the same time emphasized that Ukraine does not accept participation in the international negotiation format with the participation of Russia. Paun Rohovei noted that Ukraine supports and will assist in the development of dialogue between Tiraspol and Chisinau in the “1+1” format.
