Vadim Krasnoselsky met with the head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova Janis Mazeiks at the presidential executive office. The group of visitors that arrived in Tiraspol included political officer Peter Janik and trade adviser Vasile Plamadeala. The Pridnestrovian side was represented by Chairman of the PMR Government Alexander Rosenberg and the Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev.
Topics discussed: the need to continue the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and Moldova, measures taken to revive the still viable and relevant “5+2” format, the practical content of the activities of specialized expert (working) groups. Speaking about dialogue at the level of negotiators, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that it is necessary to move away from the practice of holding meetings for the sake of meetings. According to the President, communication between political representatives should be functional. The situation with Moldova's ban on importing components for a computed tomography scanner into the territory of Pridnestrovie, problems related to the issuance of neutral license plates, and other issues that have been relevant for years were among the more specific aspects raised by the interlocutors. The PMR President focused on the fact that the Pridnestrovian side has fulfilled all the obligations assumed within the framework of the agreements reached during the active phase of the negotiations, while Moldova is avoiding fulfillment.
Vadim Krasnoselsky noted as a positive moment the desire of both republics for peace, calling the number one task its preservation throughout the regional space in today's difficult geopolitical circumstances. Janis Mazeiks emphasized in this regard that the European Union, World War II prompted its creation, has been focused on ensuring peace and security throughout its history.
The tragic event that happened the day before did not go unnoticed by the meeting participants. The European diplomat asked what is known about murder of Oleg Khorzhan on the 17th of July. Vadim Krasnoselsky informed that a criminal case was opened on the fact of the crime under the “Murder” article. The investigation is conducted by the PMR Investigative Committee, operational actions by the PMR Ministry of Internal Affairs. “The investigation is under my control. All versions are being processed. Material has been collected, thanks to which we can already judge the motives of this crime. We will reveal this crime, we will name the criminals who committed it. We will turn if necessary to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova for legal or operational assistance”, the PMR President said.
