Dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the creation of the PRB festive event was held in the assembly hall of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky was among the guests of honor.
The official part was preceded by a screening of a documentary film about the origin, formation, development of the banking system of the republic in general and the PRB in particular. The Head of the central bank Vladislav Tidva mentioned historical aspects in his welcoming and congratulatory speech. He emphasized that it was the creation of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank that laid the foundation for the formation of the country's national monetary system. He reminded about non-standard solutions: applying stamps to banknotes (this method preceded the introduction in 1994 of its own monetary unit – the Pridnestrovian coupon ruble), later – additional printing of three zeros to the specified denomination, and in 2014, the introduction of coins made of composite materials into circulation, for the first time in world practice used in the manufacture. Important milestones in history: the launch by 2000 of the printed production of money on the territory of the republic, the issuance of the Pridnestrovian ruble in 2001, the mint opening in 2005, the approval in 2012 of a special sign (graphic image) of the PMR ruble. The PRB Chairman said that the Central Bank is a modern state institution that qualitatively performs all its inherent functions today. The presence of a modern legislative framework regulating the activities of the central bank was noted. The uniqueness of the situation was not ignored: Pridnestrovie is the only state in the world that does not have a status recognized by the international community, but has its own national monetary system, an example of the competitive advantage of which was overcoming the economic crisis of 2016-2017. Vladislav Tidva considers that the key to the effectiveness of the monetary policy of the Bank of Pridnestrovie is a high-quality system of analysis and forecasting, the use of macroeconomic indicators that allow calculating the situation in advance. The speaker focused on the functions of regulation and supervision of the financial sector, recalling the expansion of the powers of the Central Bank in this area since 2017. He noted that payment systems are being improved. Card technologies are actively developing. The Head of the bank said 326000 people are cardholders to date. The number of outlets accepting non-cash payments has increased by 2.3 times during five years. The number of Pridnestrovians using mobile payment has increased by 20 times (200 thousand people). If 5% of retail purchases were paid with the help of payment cards in 2016, today it is more than 30%. Vladislav Tidva concluding his speech thanked the staff and veterans of the bank, wishing them stability and confidence in the future.
The PMR President congratulated the employees of the PRB and those who stood at the origins of its creation. Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on the fact that the banking system of Pridnestrovie like all state institutions of the republic was created from scratch. This is the uniqueness of the Pridnestrovian state, the PMR President emphasized. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted at the same time that the presence of state structures is a thing to come, the main thing is that there are people who are able to create, manage, and execute. According to the PMR President, the PRB team is a vivid example of professionalism, focus on results and cohesion, and the banking system of the Pridnestrovian state demonstrates what relations in this area should be - transparent, partnership, honest. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed gratitude to everyone who made a feasible contribution to the creation of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank, and to those who are developing the country's banking system today. The most distinguished employees of the PRB received awards.
