The Plans for further improvement of Bendery under presidential control

The meeting dedicated to infrastructure transformations in Bendery was held at the presidential executive office. The PMR President invited to talk the Head of the city administration Roman Ivanchenko and the director of the Bendery Museum of Local Lore Alexander Tikhonov. They talked about plans for the year. The details of some projects, the implementation of which is supposed to be financed from the Capital Investment Fund were discussed. They focused on such objects as the Dniester embankment and the museum of Bendery tragedy.

Roman Ivanchenko noted that the task set by the President of restoring and putting in order the existing ones, as well as creating new recreational and entertainment areas, if necessary, is being carried out quite actively. The next step is the reconstruction of the city embankment and the Oktyabrsky Park. This is a request from local residents. The need to carry out repair and landscaping works has been long overdue. The objects of the whole complex have not known repair and modernization for several decades. At the same time, the area along the river located in the central part of the city has been and remains one of the most favorite leisure zones by Bendery residents and guests of the city. Technical expertise is carried out by specialists. In general, the object is viable - the structure as such is in a satisfactory condition, the Head of the city stated. Separate elements and locations require increased attention, reconstruction and replacement. A detailed report is being prepared. There are already design developments for the embankment renovation. The object is large-scale, the work is supposed to be carried out in stages. First of all, they will take up the transformation of the upper tier. 19 thousand squares are to be paved with paving slabs here. According to the old arrangement, there are 91 benches and 82 street lighting devices on this site. Speaking about the area of the embankment, Roman Ivanchenko noted that the territory covered by the works is 83 hectares. Considering that a registry office is located nearby, it is necessary to think over an area for walks and photo sessions for newlyweds and guests of wedding ceremonies. This year, 10 million rubles have been allocated from the Capital Investment Fund for the improvement of the embankment. Vadim Krasnoselsky, stressing the importance of this object, noted that it is no longer possible to postpone the reconstruction of the embankment. The President focused on landscaping, noting that the main array of perennial plantings has been formed, it only needs to be updated and diversified. They focused in the course of the working discussion on the issue of organizing irrigation. Two options are being considered: urban water supply and river water supply. There is also an idea to organize a single point of filling with water from the Dniester for equipment for irrigating street plantings throughout the city. Relevant projects are being prepared.

Another object planned for reconstruction is Turkish cellars, discovered last year at the intersection of Suvorov and Lenin streets. They are mothballed to ensure the safety of citizens at the moment. The improvement of the basements themselves and the area around them as well as the creation of related infrastructure, the location will be included in tourist routes after the repair and construction work. According to preliminary calculations, the bulk of the work will be finished before the City Day – the 8th of October.

It was ordered to complete the reconstruction and re-equipment of the Memorial Museum of the Bendery tragedy by another date significant for Bendery residents and all Pridnestrovians – the 19th of June, 2022. The President considers that the exhibits telling about the events of the early 90s of the last century are of tremendous importance both for preserving history, educating Pridnestrovian youth and for informing foreign citizens about the true facts that led to the Bendery tragedy as well as about its consequences. The exposition as such will be preserved, but modernized using new methods of presenting museum materials. The possibility of including interactive elements in the project is being considered. Vadim Krasnoselsky instructed to think in perspective and the Internet version of the exposition of the updated museum of the Bendery tragedy.
