Catering in medical institutions is under state control

Members of the Operational Headquarters under the President discussed the issue of catering in coronavirus hospitals and other medical institutions of the republic. Vitaly Neagu informed about the ongoing verification activities in the institutions of the network of COVID hospitals. Patients and staff were interviewed. One of the questions was about the quality of food and the organization of catering. There are fewer complaints. There are still complaints about the hospital based on the Tirotex dispensary. The small area of the dining room does not allow feeding all patients at the same time, which leads to the fact that food reach the consumer cold.

The Minister of Internal Affairs reported on the conclusions of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, made based on the results of inspections of the food units of medical institutions that are not included in the network of infectious diseases hospitals. Control activities covered 13 hospitals. They checked not only the quality of food, but also the cooking process. Remarks were everywhere. Catering units need repairs in most cases. It seems expedient to build a new building in the Republican Clinical Hospital. Kitchen equipment, including refrigeration equipment, is malfunctioning in many medical and prophylactic institutions; there is no specialized equipment for the preparation of medical nutrition dishes. Production tables, dishes, inventory require updating. The lack of systematic analysis of the fulfillment of nutritional norms per patient per day is among identified violations. The last aspect will be taken under personal control by the chief doctors. Vadim Krasnoselsky is sure that as for the rest of the issues, its solution should be comprehensive and cardinal. He recalled that he had repeatedly pointed out the expediency of transferring healthcare institutions to catering on the basis of outsourcing. Thematic meeting will be held with the participation of the leadership of the government, the Ministry of Health, state administrations, as well as the chief doctors of the republic's medical institutions in the near future, on behalf of the President.
