Today residents of Tiraspol, Dubossary and Grigoriopol celebrate the 76th anniversary of liberation of the Pridnestrovian towns from German-Romanian invaders. Every year on April 12, hundreds of grateful descendants come to the Memorials of Glory, to the monuments and graves of participants in the Great Patriotic War, so that, lowering the flowers on the plates with the names of the heroes, commemorate the liberators. This year’s circumstances do not allow holding traditional meetings and mass events dedicated to the Liberation Day. On behalf of the whole Pridnestrovian people, flowers as a symbol of eternal gratitude were laid today by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky to memorial plates and at the foot of the monuments.
The First President of the PMR, leaders of the legislative and executive branches of Government, the Head of the city and the chairman of the local Council of People’s Deputies also came to the Memorial of Glory. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky called for greater attention to veterans, emphasizing that they should not feel lonely on this holiday. Words of congratulations and thanks can be heard over the phone, they can be addressed in the form of postcards, flowers and gifts, the President emphasized.
